Welcome everyone!
My name is Grace. I am a certified birth doula through Lifespan Doulas and also a certified postpartum doula through CAPPA. I live in southeast Michigan with my husband Brian and our sweet cat, Marshmallow. In my free time I love being outside and going for a run or hike. You’ll also find me painting, reading and listening to a good podcast.
Ever since I can remember I have been a caretaker and nurturer. I am the youngest of two much older siblings. I was blessed early on with many nieces and nephews who bring me so much joy. I’ve always had the desire to check in on my loved ones, making sure to listen and hold space for them. Throughout high school I would babysit quite often. My love for kids and babies carried on into my early 20’s when I became a full-time nanny. I had the privilege of working with several families for almost eight years. These experiences shaped me deeply and I believe prepared me for my doula work. I learned patience, time management, communication skills and how to build long term trusting relationships.
In February of 2021 I had the honor of training with Patty Brennan of Lifespan Doulas for my birth doula training. I then took my postpartum doula training in September 2021 through CAPPA. I feel called to this work. Birthing people deserve to be well informed and furthermore they deserve to have a beautiful birth experience. With continuous labor support (such as a doula) birthing people and babies are statistically more likely to have better outcomes. My primary responsibility is always to you, the birthing person. It’s my job to be a calm presence for you and your partner and to help you trust your bodies ability to birth. It knows what to do.
